49/50: Staying Dead by Laura Anne Gilman: I liked this book better than I expected to since I'm not a huge fan of urban fantasy unless it's written by Clive Barker. I also read a story set in this same world in an anthology and I didn't like the story much. But the characters grew on me in the book. I liked the magic system and the fact that everything took place in my home state gave my brain a vacation from some of the complex world-building in other fantasy books. I found the writing really confusing at times, but most of the first year Lunas I've read had a lot of editing issues. Regardless, I will probably still read books two and three in the series to see what happens next to Wren and Sergei and to see if they ever get together.
