I've been house hunting, so I've been too busy to post and almost too busy to read. These are the books I've read since I posted last:

The Sharing Knife: Legacy by Lois McMaster Bujold: My favorite read of the year. I especially loved that the disabled Lakewalkers still had jobs and a function in society. I can't wait for the next book.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling: A satisfying end to the series, although a few of the deaths wrecked me.

Angelica, Angel-Seeker, Jenna Starborn, General Winston's Daughter, and Wrapt in Crystal by Sharon Shinn: I didn't like the two Samaria books as much as Jovah's Angel or The Alleluia Files, but I loved the Miriam storyline in Angelica. Jenna Starborn was disappointing because it didn't deviate much from Jane Eyre. General Winston's Daughter was wonderfully written but it wasn't the comfort read I've come to expect from Shinn's YA books. Wrapt in Crystal was my favorite of this group of Shinn books.

Fullmetal Alchemist Vol. 12 by Hiromu Arakawa: Obviously it's been way too long since I read this because I can't even remember what the volume was about. I know I loved it, as always, though.

Cast in Secret by Michelle Sagara: I think I've read this series too fast because this book got on my nerves. I don't think Kaylin's personality quirks would have annoyed me so much if I had a year between each book. I'm looking forward to book four and this time, I will have a long break between volumes.

Love Hina Vol. 1 by Ken Akamatsu and Video Girl Ai by Masakazu Katsura: I didn't like either of these and I won't be reading any more manga in this sub-genre.

Eccentric Circles by Rebecca Lickiss: While it was beyond refreshing that this was a vampire and werewolf free urban or contemporary fantasy, the writing left a lot to be desired and the romance fell flat.

Fruits Basket Vol. 16 by Natsuki Takaya: I got bored with the angst of the first half about Tohru's parents and there wasn't enough Kyo! I'm getting anxious to finish the whole series and I might resort to scans.

Cross Vol. 1 by Sumiko Amakawa: I was pleasantly surprised by this. I expected it to be gory shonen and it's actually shojo with a sweet romance, pretty art, and a neat supernatural/religious plot.

I also attempted to read all of the Shomi books that are out now and none of them worked for me. And I tried Jade Tiger by Jenn Reese and Best New Paranormal Romance from Juno and I'm not even going to bother with Shomi, Juno,or Luna (except for the few series I actually like, which reminds me, I have to buy the e-book exclusive of the third book in Christie Golden's Final Dance series) from now on. I'm better off just sticking with science fiction and fantasy with romantic sub-plots that are published by regular SFF publishers.
