48/50: Skeen's Search by Jo Clayton: I liked this book and it was a fitting conclusion to the trilogy, but I've been so tired lately (due to SAD) that I kept falling asleep every time I read it. I had a difficult time getting into the book at first too. It's kind of hard to talk about this book without just talking about the whole series. I loved the strong women characters in the Skeen books (sometimes to the detriment of the male characters, but I've read plenty of books in which the women take a backseat to the men or get pushed around and abused by men, so it was a refreshing change to see the women at the forefront). Clayton's aliens are among some of the most creative, unique, and believable that I've read in science fiction. I also loved Picarefy, the pretty much sentient, living ship. I will be reading more by Clayton (especially since I have all but one of her books!).
